Welcome to the Coastal Museum in Rørvik! Get to know the history and life of Namdalen coast.
The Coastal Museum Rørvik
Get to know the Norwegian coastal culture and industry through exhibitions and historic walks in the museum Norveg and in the coastal town Rørvik. Norveg´s permanent exhibition traces the major milestones in our 10,000-year history, from when the first humans followed the ice northwards through to today´s challenges as one of the leading fishing nations.
In Rørvik the museum consists of a museums building Norveg, the old trading place Berggården and the old docks. The museum was founded in 1975, and then based on the collection of the local historian Paul Woxeng.
During the summer season you can experience a guided sightseeing tour about norweigan fish farming. We offer unique boat trips to a modern salmon farm and out to the authentic fishing village of Sør-Gjæslingan. The café at Norveg is also open during the summer season.
In the period from May to September we also offer accomodation in historic rorbu cabins at Sør-Gjæslingan, located in the sea of Folla on the Namdalen coast. We welcome you to the genuine and unique Sør-Gjæslingan experience!
