Visit the old fishing village Sør-Gjæslingan, a cultural heritage since 2010.

Experience the historic fishing village of Sør-Gjæslingan, which became a protected cultural heritage site in 2010. Sør-Gjæslingan is a group of small islands out toward the patch of ocean called Folla, 50 km southwest of Rørvik. This was once one of the biggest and most important fishing villages south of Lofoten. Several thousand fishermen would gather here during the fishing season.

From mid-May until the end of August, there is regularly scheduled boat service to Sør-Gjæslingan on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday route operates during the period 22 June until 24 August 2019.

Day-trips to Sør-Gjæslingan (mid-June – end of August):

Namsos – Sør-Gjæslingan – Namsos – every Saturday at 09:30 during the period 22 June – 24 August 2019.
Departure from Namsos via express boat at 09:30 (Jøa 10:05), arrival at Sør-Gjæslingan at 10:55.
Return departure time from Sør-Gjæslingan at 13:15, arrival at Namsos at 14:40.

The express boat then resumes its ordinary route to Leka/Gutvik.

Rørvik – Sør-Gjæslingan – Rørvik – every Sunday at 11:15
Departure from Rørvik via express boat, M/S Foldafjord at 11:15, arrival at Sør-Gjæslingan at 11:55.
Return departure from Sør-Gjæslingan at 14:05, arrival at Rørvik at 14:45.

After a 2-hour wait in Rørvik, the express boat continues to Namsos.
